Priyanka Chopra Jonas recalls ‘Kaminey’, first project with Vishal Bhardwaj
Actor shares Instagram throwback and behind-the-scenes story from Miami shoot
New Delhi The 2009 movie Kaminey, which also happened to be her first collaboration with director Vishal Bhardwaj, is still regarded by actor Priyanka Chopra Jonas as a pivotal moment in her career.
On Monday, Jonas took a trip down memory lane by posting a photo from the movie on her Instagram account.
The movie, which also starred Shahid Kapoor in a dual role, came out on August 14, 2009. It centred on the rivalry between two twins, played by Kapoor, Charlie and Guddu. In the movie, Jonas played Sweety Bhope.
The 43-year-old actor claimed that she received a call from the director while she was in Miami filming Dostana.
The actor acknowledged that she had long wanted to work with him but had always assumed that her "commercial" image would prevent him from casting her. Following the talk, Bhardwaj paid her a visit in Miami.
"I was filming for Dostana in Miami, Florida...One cool evening after we wrapped shoot, I saw a missed call from Vishal Bhardwaj. What?? I had wanted to work with him forever and never thought he would cast me because of my “commercial“image at the time...He said he’d like to come see me, and he did. To Miami," she wrote in the post.
