Veteran Indian actor Achyut Potdar passed away in Mumbai at the age of 91 after a brief illness.

Famous for the viral meme Kehna Kya Chahte Ho , the actor breathed his last on Monday. 

However, the exact cause of his death is still unknown.

According to media reports, he was admitted to Jupiter Hospital a few days ago due to age-related health issues, where he left for his final journey.

The official Instagram handle of a private channel confirmed the news of his death by paying tribute.

The  funeral will be held on August 19 in Thane.

In a career spanning four decades, the 3 Idiots actor worked in over 125 films across Hindi and Marathi cinema.

The Lage Raho Munna Bhai actor appeared in many supporting roles in films but was best known for his popular portrayal of a strict college professor in Aamir Khan’s blockbuster, which also starred Sharman Joshi, R. Madhavan, and Kareena Kapoor.

His puzzled expressions paired with the dialogue Kehna Kya Chahte Ho became a popular meme, widely shared by netizens on social media.

Before stepping into acting at the age of 44, he worked for the Indian Armed Forces and the Indian Oil Company.

Achyut's filmography includes Tezaab, Parinda, Raju Ban Gaya Gentleman, Dilwale, Yeh Dillagi, Rangeela, Mritydand, Yeshwant, Ishq, Vaastav, Aa Ab Laut Chalen, Hum Saath Saath Hain, Parineeta, Lage Raho Munna Bhai, 3 Idiots, Dabangg 2, and Ventilator.

He also worked for television and appeared in serials like Aahat Season 1 (1995-2001) (Sony TV), Agle Janam Mohe Bitiya Hi Kijo (Zee TV), All The Best (Doordarshan), Pradhan Mantri (Zee TV), Wagle Ki Duniya, Majha Hoshil Na (Zee Marathi).
