Indian director Shekhar Kapur, a recipient of numerous accolades, candidly discussed how Sridevi’s exceptional performance transformed the blockbuster hit Mr. India into an unforgettable masterpiece in a recent interview.

The movie displayed Anil Kapoor as the main lead and was co-produced by Boney Kapoor and Surinder Kapoor, still continues to entertain people even decades later.

In an interview with Filmfare’s editor Jitesh Pillai, the 79-year-old  filmmaker opened up about the behind-the-scenes of the chart-topper song Kaate Nahi Katte.

He shared with the host, saying, “Sridevi was running a high fever of 103 degrees.”

Furthermore, he added, “Yet, she didn’t reveal her condition and continued to perform with her usual energy and grace."

Additionally, the legendary director mentioned that soon after shooting the song,  Saroj Khan (choreographer of the song) informed him that the Indian actress carried out her performance in spite of her severe health.

Kapur, who has only seven films to his name, also gushed over the actress for her outstanding humour skills and confidence for smoothly pulling out the scene inspired by popular comedian Charlie Chaplin in the hit film.

According to him, Sridevi was more than just an actress; she had given her life and soul to the movie, as he remarked, “Mr. India is her. It’s actually Sridevi."

Following this, he admitted that he developed sincere respect for her due to her trust and commitment to her work.
