Rajinikanth’s Coolie turned out to be a huge success at the box office, and earned 243.6 crores within 5 days of its release.

This Kollywood movie marks South Indian star Nagarjuna’s first major negative role, he portrayed the character of Simon, a cold and powerful villain.

In a recent interview with Bollywood Hungama, the 65-year-old actor described his first experience of a completely negative role.

The actor said that the character he played was really evil.

In fact, when the director narrated it to him, he wondered, “Can anyone really be this evil?”

Recalling the moment when the director approached him for the role, the Bangarraju actor said “When Lokesh first approached me, I was hesitant. I wasn’t sure if I should do it, or if my audience would accept me in a negative role. He had to narrate the character to me several times before I agreed.”

Expressing joy over his decision to say yes, the actor said, “Now I’m glad I agreed. It’s such a refreshing change from conventional roles, and playing a negative character turned out to be a very positive experience for me.”

The Manam actor revealed that he dubbed for himself in all three languages, Telugu, Tamil, and Hindi, in his own voice.

Describing his experience working with Rajinikanth as “an absolute pleasure,” Nagarjuna praised the superstar as kind, humble, supportive, and down-to-earth, saying everything people have heard about him is true.
