Anurag Basu recalls a turning point in his career with Ranbir Kapoor
Filmmaker Anurag Basu acknowledged that his standards were raised by working with Ranbir Kapoor in an interview with Galatta Plus.
Basu said, “I have worked with many actors, they will feel bad, but it’s an honest confession: you don’t enjoy working with anybody else after working with him.”
The comments were made by Basu in support of Metro In Dino, which was released on July 4. According to him, he plans films to keep producers from losing money.
“It is always covered. None of my producers will complain about that. So I know this is the budget I should play with,” Basu told Galatta Plus. He added that Metro In Dino was made on a modest budget since it is an ensemble film without relying on big stars.
“I am very conscious about that. And the industry is very ruthless,” he said.
Basu and the Tamasha lead, first worked together on the critically acclaimed and commercially successful film Barfi! (2012).
In the romantic comedy-drama Barfi!, Ranbir Kapoor plays a deaf and mute man named Barfi, while Priyanka Chopra and Ileana D'Cruz star in pivotal roles.
With its touching performances, moving soundtrack, and poetic narrative, the film won several awards and became one of the decade's most memorable productions.
