Bharti Singh shares the incredible story behind her birth and life
The comedian recalled her mother’s hardships and a remarkable gift today
Bharti Singh made a name for herself without a godfather, she doesn't need an introduction.
She stood out in a field that is often perceived as being dominated by men, stand-up comedy. Bharti has frequently discussed her challenging upbringing in poverty and how her perseverance changed her course in life.
Bharti recently spoke openly about her life and birth story on Raj Shamani's podcast.
Bharti also disclosed that her parents didn't want a third child because they already had two. Therefore, Bharti's mother attempted to have the pregnancy terminated when she learnt that she was expecting her.
As the discussion progressed, Bharti disclosed that her mother tried natural methods because it was very expensive to have a child aborted medically. Bharti's mother tried everything, from physically exhausting her to consuming herbs.
She said, “Then my mother took so many herbal remedies after meeting with babas, sat on her haunches and tried everything, ate warm foods like papaya and dates, so that I wouldn’t survive. But I had to come. My mother gave birth to me on her own. She was alone at home, and my father was on night duty.”
Bharti recounted the touching tale of her birth, mentioning that her mother only had to pay Rs. 60 for her delivery. She disclosed that her mother had delivered Bharti by herself and had paid a midwife Rs. 60 to cut the cord. Later on, the stand-up comedian gave her mother a house valued at Rs. 1.60 crore.
Speaking of the same subject, she stated, “She gave birth to me alone, just called a midwife to cut the cord, who charged Rs 60. I was born for Rs 60. I am a child of Rs 60. And today, I have given my mother a house worth Rs 1.60 crore.”
