Janhvi Kapoor recalls audition days before her Bollywood debut
Janhvi Kapoor looks back at the acting workshop that started it all
Janhvi Kapoor, a Bollywood star, is presently preparing for her upcoming movie, Param Sundari. The eagerly anticipated romantic comedy, which is supported by Dinesh Vijan's Maddock Films and stars Sidharth Malhotra, tells the tale of the romance between a Punjabi munda from Delhi and a Malayali girl from Kerala.
Many fans were reminded of Janhvi's late mother, Sridevi, by her appearance when the first song, Pardesiya, was released. Janhvi's old video discussing landing her first project, Dhadak, has now reappeared on social media ahead of the release of her upcoming movie.
Janhvi Kapoor talked about how she got her Bollywood dream debut with Dhadak (2018), costarring Ishaan Khatter, two years ago in an interview with Mashable India.
She shared, “I had to give an audition. I went to meet Karan Johar, and he knew me through Manish Malhotra. At first, I didn’t even think I would actually get to meet him, so I was just enjoying myself, meeting Karan Johar, auditioning, getting acting tips, what could go wrong? Then he said he wanted me to meet Shashank, and that I should read for him. So I did a series of readings for Shashank, performing scenes from Badri and Humpty. I read, but he never actually told me whether I got the film or not.”
When asked if things were up in the air for 1-1.5 months, Janhvi replied, “Not just one and a half months, my time with Karan actually went on for 3–4 months. After that, I kept reading and reading, and I thought, ‘Okay, this acting workshop is going well, but I’m not sure what I’ll actually do in life.’” The young actor has come a long way since then.”
