Social media influencer Dhanashree Verma has spilled the beans on her divorce from cricketer Yuzvendra Chahal, calling it a courageous step.

In a recent interview with Humans of Bombay, the dentist-turned-choreographer said that while she was able to ignore negative comments, it was difficult for her parents to deal with questions from relatives and acquaintances.

The 28-year-old revealed that during the initial phase after the separation, she and her parents supported each other to get through it.

She said, “there were times when my parents kept their phones away. It was so overwhelming and not required because already parents feel so much pressure from society. And then when they have to deal with something like this, how do they fix that? So, I had to strictly tell them Don't use your phones, stop answering calls."

She added, "My parents kept reminding me that this is not who you are. To even take that decision requires a lot of courage, they kept telling me how proud they are that I made this decision. It's not easy.”

Dhanashree disclosed that she received only one advice from her parents and friends, and that was to continue being dignified and not get impulsive.

For the unversed, Chahal and Dhanashree became friend when the former contacted her for dance classes during covid.

The duo tied the knot in Gurugram in December 2020 and after just 2 years of marriage the couple separated, and their divorce was finalised in March this year.
