'Jolly LLB 3' lands Akshay Kumar, Arshad Warsi in legal trouble
Akshay Kumar and Arshad Warsi face legal hurdles over their upcoming movie
Bollywood stars Akshay Kumar and Arshad Warsi, along with the makers of the popular comedy film franchise Jolly LLB 3, have landed in hot water as a civil court in Pune summoned them.
According to media reports, the court issued notices for allegedly disrespecting the judiciary in their upcoming film.
These directives were issued on a petition filed by lawyer Wajid Rahim Khan.
Notably, the court has urged them to appear before it on October 28 at 11 a.m.
In his plea, the petitioner argued that “Jolly LLB 3 portrays the legal profession in a derogatory manner and insults the judiciary.” He also objected to a scene in the film in which judges are referred to as mamu (a colloquial slang word)."
For the unversed, this is not the first time that a complaint has been filed against this comedy drama.
In May 2024, Ajmer District Bar Association President Chandrabhan filed a complaint against the makers, alleging that the franchise disrespects the Indian judiciary system.
Meanwhile, the teaser of the Akshay and Arshad starrer was released a few days ago.
It received an overwhelming response from netizens, and audiences are eagerly waiting for the movie.
This is the third instalment of the Jolly LLB franchise, the first of which was released in 2013, followed by its sequel in 2017.
The first part, led by Dhamaal actor, was made on a budget of ₹10 crore and became a super hit at the box office earning Rs. 50 crores.
The sequel, starring Sky Force actor in the lead, turned into a blockbuster, earning over Rs. 200 crore worldwide.
Now, the upcoming part 3 brings the two actors together for the first time as they reprise their roles.
The film is slated to release on September 19, 2025.
