Priyanka Chopra’s manager, Anjula Acharia, faced criticism for attributing the success of the hit film Heads of State to the actress.

In a recent statement, Anjula claimed the 43-year-old Indian actress had created over twice the buzz of her co-stars John Cena and Idris Elba, which sparked major backlash.

In response, the film producer took to her official Instagram account to share a cryptic message, that reads, “Sometimes you have to go backwards to go forward,” on Friday, August 22.

In the following story, she added, “For all those asking, yes I still don’t read my books backwards."

According to the report of Variety, the Dostana star's manager stated, “I don’t think she would normally be credited for (the film’s success) because she’s not the lead. She’s not a ‘head of state.’ But in this case, the data doesn’t lie."

For those unfamiliar, the comedy-action movie Heads of State,  was directed by Ilya Naishuller and co-produced by Peter Safran and John Rickard. 

Notably, the film which gained positive reviews worldwide was premiered via Prime Video on July 2 and gave audience political satire alongside high-stakes action scenes.
