Guru Randhawa faces backlash as ‘Azul’ draws criticism online
Controversy surrounds Guru Randhawa’s school themed music video
The internet is currently targeting well-known Punjabi singer and songwriter Guru Randhawa because of his music video, Azul.
Some people are criticising him for playing the part of a teacher and romantically pursuing a schoolgirl in the music video, even though the industry has praised him for finding up-and-coming talent and working with them.
A schoolgirl was seen blowing bubblegum and waiting to be photographed for their group photo at the beginning of the video.
Guru was shown in the following frame as a photographer who is awaiting the arrival of a final pupil. As a teacher, Guru watches the girl closely as she joins in and performs her amazing dance move. The girl was seen displaying her sexy moves while wearing casual clothing in the following frame.
In the next frame, the singer was depicted as a photographer waiting for a last student to arrive. The Patola singer who is a teacher, keeps a close eye on the girl as she participates and displays her incredible dancing ability. The next frame showed the girl in casual clothes showing off her sexy moves.
The internet was quick to express its disgust at his latest music album. One user wrote, "We should normalise male-female interactions of any age and not always give it a sexual angle. I remember in my childhood, if I talked or was influenced by any male, I was teased that I liked him sexually. Although I wasn’t adult enough to understand sexuality at that time.. I am shocked that such a mentality is still there."
Another one pointed out that K-Drama and school romance don't include Pedophilic behaviour, and wrote, "Omg, too many dumb people justifying it in the name of school romance K-dramas or Hollywood content!! They clearly need to read the description of Paedophilia and Grooming relationships. Both underage or teenage males and females in love do not fall into the above category!!"
