Janhvi Kapoor speaks out on 'Param Sundari' criticism
Janhvi Kapoor opens up about movie's performance debate
Janhvi Kapoor and Sidharth Malhotra’s cross-cultural romance Param Sundari is all set to hit theaters on August 29.
Since its trailer was released on August 12, film buffs have been comparing it to the 2013 superhit Chennai Express.
That film featured Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone in the lead roles, and its story also revolved around a cross-cultural love story.
Although the similarities between the two films will only become clear after its release, Janhvi has dismissed the comparisons, saying that both are completely different films.
In a recent interview with Mirchi Plus, the 28-year-old actress said that in Chennai Express Deepika played a Tamilian while she is from Kerala in the film.
“Not all people from the South can be grouped together. It’s a different milieu altogether, and it’s not like that this is a repetitive thing at all,” the Dhadak actress added.
She further said, “2 States was similar, but it came before Chennai Express, and these kinds of films aren’t being released every year.”
The Devara star concluded, “Anyways people aren’t comparing us to something that needs to be forgotten. Chennai Express was an iconic film, with iconic characters and actors.”
Sidharth Malhotra also added, “We don’t mind the comparison at all, I think it is a compliment. I love that film, and I am a fan of Rohit Shetty films. People remember certain things due to the nostalgia factor that is connected to them, even though I don’t think that the two films are the same. “
Directed by Tushar Jalota, this much anticipated film also features Rajeev Khandelwal and Aakash Dahiya in pivotal roles.
