Casting scams are common in the entertainment industry, where individuals exploit the dreams of aspiring actors by posing as representatives of production houses.

Notably, social media has become an easy gateway for such practices.

Now, production houses and film studios are coming forward to warn fresh talent about fraudsters claiming to be associated with them.

The famous production house of Ekta Kapoor, Balaji Telefilms, has also joined this effort and issued an official statement in this regard.

They named two Instagram handles impersonating a casting director and an assistant casting director of the company.

Shared by the official account, the note stated: “Balaji Telefilms Limited hereby clarifies that Instagram account holders Vishal and Pooja, operating under the name pooja_castingdirector and claiming to hold the designation of ‘Assistant Casting Director’ with our organisation, have no affiliation whatsoever with Balaji Telefilms.

We unequivocally disassociate ourselves from these individuals and strongly condemn any attempt to misuse our company’s name or reputation to take undue advantage of aspiring actors.”

With this post, the production house captioned: “Important Notice: Any account claiming casting authority outside our official channels is fraudulent. Your dream deserves safety. Don’t fall prey to fake casting calls. Always verify. #BalajiTelefilms.”

Ekta herself reshared the notice on her Instagram story to reach a wider audience.

Meanwhile, she has recently revived one of the most popular TV soaps, Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, after 17 years with its original cast.

On the film front, the company has a lineup of films including Vrushabha, Bhoot Bangla and Vvan, slated for release in 2026.
