Fawad Khan’s latest movie trailer receives backlash
The trailer of Fawad Khan and Vaani Kapoor starrer Abir Gulaal (Aabeer Gulaal) is finally out, but surprisingly, it has generated only a modest buzz.
The 43-year-old actor will be seen as Abir Singh, while the Befikre actress plays an aspiring chef, Gulaal Bajaj, who travels to London to pursue her dreams.
The two meet through a cooking competition and fall in love, but their relationship soon faces challenges.
The trailer dropped yesterday but failed to capture viewers’ attention.
Notably, neither Fawad Khan nor Vaani Kapoor shared any glimpse of their much-hyped project on their social media handles.
The trailer, shared by the official Instagram account @aabeergulaalofficial—which has only 1,248 followers—managed to generate just 3,755 views on YouTube in 24 hours.
Most film buffs seemed interested mainly because of the Ae Dil Hai Mushkil actor, while some criticized the trailer’s poor editing.
One user commented, “Sadly, the trailer cut is not good; it could have been better.”
Another wrote, “Fawad is too good, but what is the story about? I can’t understand what is going on.”
Originally slated for release on May 9, Abir Gulaal faced a setback after the Pahalgam attack, followed by severely strained relations between India and Pakistan.
Now renamed Aabeer Gulaal, the film is set to hit cinemas worldwide on September 12, 2025, except in India.
