Mrunal Thakur faces backlash for taking a dig at Anushka Sharma
Mrunal Thakur’s viral clip from an old interview lands her in trouble
Mrunal Thakur is currently making headlines more for her statements than for her work.
Just as the buzz around her remarks about Bipasha Basu had barely settled, another statement has once again turned all the attention toward her.
An old interview of hers resurfaced online, in which she is heard commenting on another Bollywood actress, claiming the actress ‘isn’t working,’ even though she is despite having been replaced by her in a major film.
Although the 33-year-old actress did not name the actress directly, netizens believe she took a dig at Anushka Sharma, who replaced her in Salman Khan's Sultan.
During the interview the Pippa actress answered a question about rejecting films in the starting days of her career which weren’t "working for her at that time".
She took a minute and revealed, "So many. I said no, honestly, because I was not ready. Controversies hojayegi. It became a superhit and helped the female actress to reach there. But then I realised if I had done that film at that point in time, I would have lost myself."
The next part of her answer left people speculating that Anushka was the subject of her statement.
She said, "Then she is not working at the moment, but I am, is itself a victory because I don’t want instant gratification, instant recognition, instant fame because anything that comes instantly goes away instantly."
As the clip went viral, several internet users criticised Mrunal for her comment.
It is pertinent to mention that, while hosting Bigg Boss, Salman Khan revealed that Mrunal Thakur and Shahid Kapoor were the original choices for Sultan.
