Akshay Kumar and Arshad Warsi starrer Jolly LLB 3 got a clean chit for release after a real-life courtroom drama.
On Wednesday, the Allahabad High Court rejected a plea against the film’s track “Bhai Vakeel Hai.”
The petition had alleged that the song defamed the judiciary and the legal fraternity, and sought a ban on its release.
A division bench of the High Court observed that they did not find anything objectionable in the song’s lyrics and in the film itself.
The court noted, “We did not find any objectionable matter to warrant interference by this Court. We have also gone through the lyrics of the song Bhai Vakeel Hai and we do not find anything which may interfere in the practice of the legal profession by genuine Advocates.”
Consequently, the court dismissed the petition without imposing any costs.
Following a complaint filed by lawyer Wajid Khan Bidkar, A Pune court summoned the Bollywood stars Akshay Kumar and Arshad Warsi on August 20.
The plaintiff objected to a scene where the judge is referred to as “Mamu” and argued that it portrays the legal profession in an “inappropriate” manner.
Produced by Star Studio18, this third installment of Jolly LLB (2013) is slated to hit the theaters on September 19, 2025.
It features Saurabh Shukla, Huma Qureshi, Amrita Rao, and Gajraj Rao in pivotal roles.
