Tabish Hashmi faces heavy backlash over comments about Aamir Liaquat
Tabish Hashmi slammed by Moeen Akhtar and Tariq Aziz fans over controversial comparison
Comedian and host Tabish Hashmi’s recent remarks about late anchorperson Aamir Liaquat have prompted backlash from fans of legendary actors Moin Akhtar and Tariq Aziz.
Known for his wit and timely comebacks, the 40-year-old comedian recently appeared on the Geo Podcast, where he openly spoke about his career, life, and other topics.
Answering a question about meeting Aamir Liaquat, Tabish revealed that an interview with him was nearly finalised during the last days of the late host’s life.
During the conversation, the Hasna Mana Hai host described the late journalist as the biggest showman Pakistan has ever produced.
He said, “We saw Moin Akhtar and Tariq Aziz, but no one was bigger than Aamir Liaquat, who handled entire transmissions single-handedly. He was eloquent, fluent in multiple languages, and a trendsetter.”
His admiration for Aamir Liaquat and the comparison with Moin Akhtar and Tariq Aziz upset fans of both iconic personalities of Pakistani showbiz.
Several netizens criticised Tabish, emphasising that there can be no comparison between Moin, Tariq, and Aamir.
One user commented, “No one has matched Tariq Aziz's legacy in the history of hosting in Pakistan.”
However, some agreed with Tabish’s opinion, stating that Aamir was indeed a showman in his own right.
It is pertinent to mention that Dr Aamir Liaquat was a pioneer of Ramzan transmissions in the Pakistani media industry.
Once considered a guarantee of success, the Aalim Online host became the centre of several controversies before his sudden demise on 9 June 2022.
