Ashish Kapoor, who played Nikhil Deora in the popular television series Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai, has been arrested in relation to a rape case.

The FIR was filed at Delhi's Civil Lines police station, according to police, and Kapoor was later delay in Pune after they followed his site for several days.

The complainant, a professional from Gurugram, claimed that on August 11, she was sexually assaulted. She said that during a house party in Delhi during the second week of August, Kapoor attacked her in a bathroom, according to the police.

In her initial complaint, she named two unnamed people, Kapoor, his friend, and the friend's wife. Later on, though, she changed her statement to only accuse Kapoor of rape.

Although investigators have reported that no video has been found, the woman also claimed that the assault was captured on camera.

She also claimed that the friend's wife, who was the one who called the police via PCR, had beaten her outside the lavatory. Before being found and taken into custody, Kapoor was on the run.

A senior officer told Hindustan Times, “The team has been looking for him. He was earlier traced to Goa, but when the team reached, he slipped away. He was then traced to Pune, where he was found living with a friend and was arrested on Tuesday.”

No formal charges have been brought against the other people listed in the FIR, and police investigations are still ongoing.
