Anil Kapoor's hilarious Eid wish goes viral on social media
Anil Kapoor sparked a laughter wave online as netizens flooded social media with memes
Bollywood actors often portray the spirit of religious harmony by celebrating or wishing people on the important festivals of their faiths.
Anil Kapoor did the same, perhaps with good intentions, but his post left Muslims on the internet in splits and laughter.
Taking to X (formerly Twitter), the 68-year-old actor shared a post and extended his wishes to Muslim fans by saying, “Eid Mubarak, may Allah bless you and your family with happiness.”
His post received over 1.8 million views in less than 24 hours, along with more than 28k likes, 3k reposts, and 2.6k comments, and a number of X users responded to him hilariously.
It is pertinent to mention that it was not the occasion of Eid, but rather the birth anniversary of Prophet Muhammad (SAW), which some Muslims observe as Eid Milad-un-Nabi.
A journalist, Muhammad Zubair, wished Anil back by saying, “Ramzan Mubarak to you too.”
Another X user wished him and his family Diwali (which will be celebrated in November).
A Muslim thanked him for wishing Eid (2026) in advance and wished him good luck.
One user jokingly asked, “Do Muslims know this as well?” while another wondered, “Who told him that it’s Eid?”
A third user asked, “Ramzan guzar gaya (has Ramzan passed)?”
While many netizens responded with memes, some criticised him, saying, “These people live with Muslims their whole lives but know nothing about them.”
Although several people tried to explain to him that it was not an Eid festival but the Prophet’s birthday, which is commonly referred to as Eid Milad-un-Nabi.
