Pakistani actress Mawra Hocane's advise for brides-to-be rebounded on her, with netizens schooling her to set an example first.

The 33-year-old actress recently attended a fashion brand launch as a chief guest, where she encouraged young women preparing for marriage not to stress over how much their wedding ensemble costs.

 The Sabaat actor said it doesn’t matter what a bride wears, as she will look beautiful regardless.

However, these words of wisdom didn’t inspire social media users, who slammed her by reminding her of her own marriage. 

Critics argued that she should have practiced what she preached in order to genuinely influence others.

One user wrote, “They all get these expensive dresses in PRs, so yeah, these celebrities can say this.” 

“Only these people can say such stuff. They invest crores and then lecture about modesty. The standards these actresses and influencers have set remain in people’s minds, and everyone tries to find something better and classier, even if it goes out of budget,”  another commented.

A third user said, “Saying this is easy after wearing a lehenga worth 3 lakhs.”

Still, some users agreed with her opinion about not putting pressure on brides to wear something expensive just for the sake of public perception.

Meanwhile, Mawra surprised her fans earlier this year by sharing her Nikkah pictures, followed by a series of glimpses from all of her wedding festivities.

She tied the knot with her long-term partner and co-actor, Ameer Gilani, on February 5, 2025.
