Kalyani lauded Dulquer’s for opening doors for female superheroes in Malayalam films
Kalyani Priyadarshan opened up about producer Dulquer Salmaan and candidly shared rare details about the bold risk he took for the box-office hit film Lokah’s production.
The female-led superhero drama Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra, which premiered on August 28, grossed over ₹100 crore globally in just seven days of its release.
During her candid conversation with Mana Stars, the 32-year-old actress credited Dulquer for the success of the action packed movie.
She stated, “Hats off to Dulquer. There have always been stories like this, but very few producers are willing to back them. This could easily have started with a male superhero, but Dulquer chose to begin with a woman’s story instead.”
Furthermore, she added, “Even for Malayalam cinema, ₹30 crore is a very high budget. To put that kind of investment behind a female-led film is rare. Not many producers would dare to do that. I’m really happy that Dulquer is now being rewarded for taking that first step.”
Apart from Kalyani, the record-breaking hit movie’s cast also includes Naslen, Sandy, Arun Kurian, Chandu Salimkumar, Nishanth Sagar, Raghunath Paleri, Vijayaraghavan, Nithya Shri, and Sarath Sabha.
