Saba Azad is counted among those celebrities who value their personal boundaries and never shy away from hitting back at trolls

The 39-year-old actor-singer has once again spoken out about the constant scrutiny surrounding her private affairs.

Earlier this year, the Songs of Paradise star shared a screenshot of a troll’s comment suggesting she no longer needs to work since she is Hrithik Roshan’s girlfriend.

Hitting back, she wrote, “Maybe in your world when people fall in love they become incapacitated and landlords stop asking for rent and the need to put food on one’s own table magically evaporates!! Wah!!.”

Now, in an interview, Saba described such remarks as “absolute sexism,” pointing out how a woman’s identity is often diluted the moment she is seen beside a man.

The Calcutta Kiss singer said, “It’s tragic and it’s a deep-seated sexism that most people have, even the most progressive ones,” she said, adding that everyone, regardless of their relationship status, still has to work and provide for themselves.

Highlighting how sexism extends beyond social media, Saba noted the film industry’s hesitation to back women-centric stories.

“Things are changing but people are hesitant to make films that are only about women. It immediately falls into a niche,” she explained.

On the work front, Saba was last seen in the Songs of Paradise, a musical drama inspired by the life of the legendary Kashmiri singer Raj Begum.
