Manisha Koirala shares a strong message against violence during Nepal’s ongoing protests
Manisha Koirala has raised her voice against the violent crackdown on young protesters in Nepal in a recent social media update.
On Tuesday, September 9, the iconic actress took to her Instagram account to share a blood-soaked shoe.
Accompanied with the heart wrenching caption, which reads, “Today is a black day for Nepal - when bullets respond to the voice of the people, outrage against corruption, and demand for justice.”
In Kathmandu and beyond, thousands of youth have rallied, demanding the government lift the social media ban and take action against corruption.
The movement turned deadly when officers shot at protesters in several locations, killing 19 and injuring over 250. With flags in hand and the anthem on their lips, the potestors condemned censorship.
The situation got worst when parliament was stormed and set on fire, which prompted police to use tear gas, water cannons, and shoot bullets.
For the unversed, the citizens protested when 26 social media platforms, like Facebook, YouTube, and X, were blocked to prevent fraud and money laundering.
Manisha last appeared in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar (2024), alongside Sonakshi Sinha, Aditi Rao Hydari, Richa Chadha, Sanjeeda Sheikh, and Sharmin Segal.
