Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has approached the Delhi High Court, seeking protection of her personality and publicity rights.

The 51-year-old actor told the court that several websites are misusing her name to sell merchandise without permission, while AI-generated and morphed images of her are also being circulated online.

The matter was heard by Justice Tejas Karia. Senior advocate Sandeep Sethi, representing the Devdas actress, pointed out that many websites are falsely projecting themselves as her “official” platforms, even though she has given no such authorisation.

Sethi highlighted one particular website that claimed to be the “one and only authorised and official website” of Aishwarya Rai, calling it misleading.

He also drew attention to another entity that listed Guzaarish star as its chairperson, despite her having no knowledge of it or any association with it.

The court was further informed that certain unknown persons, referred to as John Does, have been collecting money by misusing her name and circulating AI-generated images, some of which are intimate in nature and completely fabricated.

Justice Karia, addressing Google’s counsel during the hearing, asked the company to take down the links flagged in Rai’s petition.

The High Court remarked it would issue injunctions against such unauthorised use of her name and photos.

This is not the first time the Bachchan family has approached the court.

In 2023, they sought legal action after certain YouTube videos spread false claims about their daughter Aaradhya’s health, including one alleging her death.

The family had also raised concerns over the use of morphed images in those videos.
