Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and President Ram Chandra Poudel resigned as a result of the Gen-Z uprising against corruption in Nepal, which caused extensive violence and devastation.

Reports of jail breaks surfaced as the protests, which started on Monday, grew in intensity and included more deaths as well as the burning of the president's residence, the prime minister's office, and the Parliament. According to prison officials, approximately 900 prisoners escaped from two prisons in the western districts of Nepal as of Tuesday.

As of Tuesday, about 900 inmates had broken out of two prisons in Nepal's western districts, according to prison officials.

India announced on Tuesday that the districts of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar that border Nepal would be under 24 hour watch.

Bihar, which borders Nepal via a porous 729 kilometer stretch, has increased security. High alert has been issued for seven districts: East Champaran, West Champaran, Sitamarhi, Madhubani, Araria, Supaul, and Kishanganj.

The paramilitary group in charge of guarding the border, the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), has increased surveillance and sent in more staff to increase awareness in the area.
