Ashneer Grover sparks new controversy by mocking ‘Bigg Boss 19’ host Salman Khan
Grover stirred debate by claiming celebrity hosts like Salman Khan overshadow contestants, sparking fresh discussions around the format of Indian reality TV
Ashneer Grover mentioned Salman Khan in passing when talking about his new reality show, Rise and Fall.
Despite not specifically mentioning Salman or Bigg Boss 19, it was obvious that he was alluding to the Bollywood actor and his contentious program.
Ashneer Grover’s Remarks on Reality Shows
Grover emphasised that instead of a celebrity host taking centre stage, reality shows should concentrate on the contestants.
Salman and the Shark Tank judge animosity stem from a previous incident. He said that Salman's manager told him that the actor would not pose for a picture with him during a sponsored ad shoot. Grover felt deceived by this interaction, which increased their conflict.
Grover recounted, "I met Salman Khan. We had him as our sponsor, so I met him for his shoot. I met him before the shoot to brief him about the company. I sat with him for three hours, then his manager said that no photos should be taken, as sir feels bad about it. I said, damn it, I won’t take any photo, to hell with you. I mean, what kind of unnecessary show-off is this?"
Salman Khan’s Response During Bigg Boss 18
The Tiger lead addressed Ashneer's previous remarks during his 2024 guest appearance on Bigg Boss 18. Grover was chastised by the actor for his remarks and counselled to exercise caution when speaking in public. Grover apologised to him despite the altercation and made it clear that he never meant to offend.
Salman stated during the show, "Meeting was not held with you but with your team. Maybe you were also present there. We have not had any discussions. I saw what you said. You presented that we befooled you. This is wrong. Those numbers were wrong."
