Aabeer Gulaal’s possible release sparks uproar in India
Fawad Khan and Vani Kapoor starrer receives strong opposition from Indians
Fawad Khan and Vaani Kapoor starrer Aabeer Gulaal released worldwide on September 12, without any buzz.
Originally slated to hit theatres on May 9, it was shelved due to political tensions between India and Pakistan following the Pahalgam attack on April 22.
Fans were eagerly waiting to see the Pakistani heartthrob in his latest Bollywood venture after so long, but their hopes were dashed when a brief war broke out between the neighbouring countries.
The makers of the film even took down the songs of this much-awaited movie, which had been released before the attack, and after that, there was no news about it.
However, despite all the opposition and even threats, when Hania Aamir starrer Indian Punjabi movie Sardaar Ji 3 received a very good response from fans, the makers of Aabeer Gulaal also decided to try their luck.
Therefore, they announced the release of the film on September 2, later revised to September 12, but surprisingly, there were no formal promotions or marketing for the film, not even in Pakistan.
While there was no buzz about the movie, a recent news report caused a stir among Indians.
A report by Bollywood Hungama claimed that Aabeer Gulaal had got the nod to release in India, which not only shocked the public but also drew strong opposition.
Reacting to this news, one X user shared the link and wrote, “This shouldn’t be allowed.”
Another expressed his frustration, saying, “Epic failure of India’s Ministry of Information. First, it couldn’t stop the broadcasting of BCCI’s match against Pakistan. Then in July, it lifted the ban on Pakistani social media accounts for 1–2 days, and now they are allowing the release of Aabeer Gulaal.”
Though there were no official announcements or denials about its release in India, a verified X account claiming to be a fact-checker declared this news fake.
