Mirai Day 1

Actor Teja Sajja made a successful return to the big screen with the eagerly awaited action film Mirai, following his smash hit with Hanu-Man. The movie has already outperformed Hanu-Man in terms of opening day receipts.

Early estimates from industry tracker Sacnilk put Mirai's net earnings across India (all languages combined) at around Rs 12 crore. In contrast, Hanu-Man, which came out last year, made about Rs 8 crore net on its first day of release.

On Day 1, the movie's Telugu occupancy rate was 68.59% overall, indicating a positive reception in its native market.

Occupancy for morning shows was 56.2%, followed by afternoon shows at 63.61%, evening shows at 70.75%, and night shows at 83.81%. Hyderabad was the city with the most shows (404) and the highest occupancy rate (85.5%).

Collection vs Hanu-Man

Bengaluru came next with a respectable 43.75% occupancy rate and 346 shows. The movie's pan-Indian release did mediocrely in other language markets besides Telugu. With a 19.5% occupancy rate, Tamil was followed by Malayalam (16.69%), Hindi (10.86%), and Kannada (5.86%).

Mirai lags behind some recent pan-India releases, despite having a stronger opening than Hanu-Man. Dhanush's Kuberra opened with Rs 14.75 crore, Nandamuri Balakrishna's Daaku Maharaaj had an incredible start with Rs 25.35 crore, and Vijay Deverakonda's Kingdom made its debut with Rs 18 crore. With Rs 21 crore on its first day, Nani's HIT, The Third Case did better as well.

Box Office Outlook for the Weekend

Nonetheless, Mirai performs admirably in comparison to other recent Telugu releases, surpassing both Naga Chaitanya's Thandel, which made Rs 11.5 crore on its first day, and the animated mythological film Mahavatar Narsimha, which started at Rs 1.75 crore but later became one of the year's biggest hits.
