Bollywood actor Disha Patani’s Bareilly residence came under attack early Friday morning, police confirmed.
According to reports, two individuals on a motorcycle allegedly fired two shots at the Civil Lines residence and then fled.
As per Hindustan Times, the 33-year-old was in Mumbai, while her family including sister Khushboo Patani, a former army officer, father Jagdish Patani, a retired DSP, and mother Padma Patani was at home, however, no injuries occurred.
Bareilly SSP Anurag Arya said authorities recovered two empty cartridges outside the property. Security has been deployed, and the case has been handed over to the crime branch.
“CCTV footage from the vicinity is being examined, and alerts have been issued regarding gangster Goldy Brar and his network. Five teams are tracing the attackers,” Arya added.
Responsibility for the attack was claimed by the Rohit Godara Goldy Brar gang in a Facebook post, citing alleged disrespect towards spiritual figures Premanand Maharaj and Aniruddhacharya Maharaj.
The post warned, “This is only a trailer. Next time, if anyone shows any disrespect towards our religion, none will be spared,” further stating the message was aimed at the entire film industry.
The gang emphasized, “We are prepared to go to any length to defend our religion. Dharma and society are one for us, and safeguarding them is our foremost duty.” Multiple criminal groups and known offenders were tagged in the post, including Monu Group, AP Group, Kala Rana, Naresh Sethi, Tinu Haryana, and Amarjeet Bishnoi.
Police confirmed a complaint has been registered, and the investigation is progressing swiftly while ensuring full protection for the Patani family.
