Soha Ali Khan opens up on bond with Saif Ali Khan & Kareena Kapoor: "Trust Took Time"
Soha Ali Khan revealed that her bond with brother Saif Ali Khan grew slowly, while trust with Kareena Kapoor developed over years
Soha Ali Khan has always maintained a close relationship with her family, she didn't immediately click with her brother Saif Ali Khan and sister-in-law Kareena Kapoor Khan.
She talked candidly about how those relationships have evolved over time in a recent interview.
Saif & Kareena’s Marriage Timeline
As a child, Soha acknowledged that it was challenging to connect with Saif because of their age and distance.
“We were hardly under the same roof growing up, because there’s a nine-year difference between us. And by the time I was born, he was pretty much on his way to boarding school in England," she said.
How Age Gap Affected Their Bond
But things shifted with time. “Now, it’s completely different. Ever since moving to the city, and I had lived with him for some time when I first moved here, and then quickly moved out and got my own place. But we connect on many levels… He’s a very different person to I am. But we have lots in common, lots of things that perhaps you feel other people may not get."
For her, maturity made the age gap fade. “That’s what siblings do, right? We have shared trauma, shared experiences, shared parents… Now, when you’re like 46 and 55, then the age gap seems less and less."
Why Trust With Kareena Took Time
Soha responded that it took some time for their bond to become genuine when asked about Kareena.
“I feel that Kareena is an incredibly genuine person. One of the things that matters most to her is family. She is a very hands-on parent, wife, daughter, sister, and so many other things."
She continued, “We have known each other for many years, but it has taken time, as I think any genuine relationship does… I feel like sometimes it takes time to build trust and to get to know someone and to have an independent relationship with them outside of, you know, your husband. So I feel like that has happened… such that I feel like we have an independent relationship and there are many things that we connect over. For example, you know, I think being really good daughters."
