Janhvi Kapoor, Varun Dhawan flag concerns over misuse of AI
Varun Dhawan and Jhanvi Kapoor emphasise the need to protect personal consent online
Janhvi Kapoor and Varun Dhawan, at the trailer launch of Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari, opened up about the growing impact of AI on creativity, consent, and identity.
Notably, Artificial intelligence is rapidly seeping into every field of life, and in the entertainment world as well, its unchecked use is stirring concerns among celebrities.
The 28-year-old actress recalled her own unsettling encounter, saying, “On social media, I see so many AI-generated images of me being circulated without my permission. While you and I may be able to identify them, the average person often assumes they’re real. They think. She actually wore this outfit and went out.”
Calling herself “old-school,” the Bawaal star stressed the need to safeguard originality and uphold authenticity in storytelling.
Backing her, Varun described technology as a double-edged sword.
“It has its advantages, but there are also serious drawbacks,” he noted.
“We need clear laws and regulations so that actors and their identities aren’t misused.”
He added that no algorithm could ever replicate an actor’s individuality or the unique charm they bring to the screen.
Produced by Dharma Productions and Mentor Disciple Entertainment, Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari promises a vibrant blend of romance, comedy, and family drama, set against the backdrop of a lavish Indian wedding.
Along with these two actors in lead characters, the film features Sanya Malhotra, Rohit Saraf, Akshay Oberoi, and Maniesh Paul, which is scheduled to hit theatres on October 2.
