Anurag Kashyap addresses buzz around a Virat Kohli film and explains why he won’t direct it
Renowned filmmaker Anurag Kashyap, has set the record straight on the much talked about Virat Kohli biopic.
Despite netizens’ excitement over a movie based on the cricket star’s life, the 53-year-old Indian film director confirmed he won’t be taking on the project anytime soon.
During promotions for his upcoming film Nishaanchi, the movie maker explained why he’d rather tackle different stories.
“Virat’s already a hero to so many people, to so many kids. If I’m going to do a biopic, I like to pick subjects that are more complicated,” he said.
Meanwhile, he didn’t hold back praise for the cricketer either, saying, “He’s a really wonderful person. I know him personally, and he’s authentic, emotional, and just incredible.”
The upcoming chart-topper is set in early 2000s Uttar Pradesh, which features Aaishvary Thackeray in his debut.
In the film Thackeray plays dual roles as brothers Babloo and Dabloo, whose conflicting beliefs carve the storyline.
Although audiences immediately linked it to the Gangs of Wasseypur, Kashyap made it clear that Nishaanchi is an entirely new story, with its own unique narrative.
He explained that wrongdoers in his films are never left unpunished, and everyone faces the results of their actions.
