Aamir Khan has strongly criticised the growing trend in Bollywood where actors expect producers to cover their personal expenses, unrelated to filmmaking.

Speaking in an interview with film analyst Komal Nahta, the 60-year-old actor-producer described the practice as “unfair” and “harmful” for the industry.

The Ghajini star revealed that many actors today make producers pay not only for their drivers and spot boys but also for trainers, cooks, and even live kitchens on set.

“They even demand multiple vanity vans for kitchens and gyms,” he noted.

He argued that while stars may have certain needs during shoots, paying for personal staff and luxuries should be their own responsibility.

The Pk actor added, “These actors are earning in crores and yet not capable of paying for their needs? I find this extremely strange. It’s a shame that, even today, there are actors being very unfair to their producers and their films.”

Furthermore, the actor  questioned why a producer should bear such costs.

He asked, “If the producer is paying my personal staff, does that mean he will also start paying for my kids’ school fees? Where will this stop?”

The Secret Superstar actor clarified that only expenses essential to a film, such as makeup, hair, and costumes, should be covered.

He cited Dangal as an exception, where producers paid for wrestling training because it was directly tied to the role.

Aamir Khan concluded that he always pays his own family’s expenses during outdoor shoots, adding that actors’ excessive demands only project them in the wrong light.

On the work front, he was last seen in Sitaare Zameen Par, released on June 20, 2025.
