Ayesha Omar responds to backlash over her upcoming reality show
Ayesha Omar’s show Lazawal Ishq faces heavy criticism from netizens
Pakistani actress and model Ayesha Omar broke her silence over the criticism that her upcoming Urdu-language reality show Lazawal Ishq is a dating programme.
Speaking to The Current, the 43-year-old actress clarified that the concept has been misunderstood and misreported by some media outlets.
“Some are saying I called it a dating show, but that’s not true. I never said that,” Omar stressed, adding that it is not inspired by Western formats like Love Island.
Instead, she described it as a project built around meaningful conversations and long-term relationships leading to marriage.
The Bulbulay star explained that the show follows participants living in a villa but within cultural boundaries.
Men and women will have separate dorms and floors, with shared access only to spaces like the lounge, kitchen and poolside.
“It’s a Turkish show adapted for our audience in line with our values,” she added.
According to her, the show is more of a social experiment highlighting how young adults interact, learn from mistakes and build bonds.
No couples are pre-assigned; relationships will form naturally as participants get to know each other.
Moreover, she cleared that games and challenges will also revolve around communication skills rather than dating activities.
Ayesha Omar noted that similar formats have aired before in Pakistan, stressing that Lazawal Ishq should be seen as a positive learning experience.
The teaser shows the Taxali Gate actor in Turkey, introducing the luxurious villa where four men and four women will stay.
The series, which will stream exclusively on YouTube, is expected to span around 100 episodes.
Notably, the release date is yet to be revealed.
