Anurag Kashyap reveals shocking truth about Bollywood
Anurag Kashyap shares his unfiltered thoughts about the challenges of the film industry
Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap is trending in the news again, as he recently opened up about the challenges and changes in Indian film industry.
During the promotion of Nishaanchi, the filmmaker shared his candid thoughts on Bollywood, calling it a “toxic” environment.
In a conversation with Zoom, the director remarked on the lack of unity in the industry.
“People who know me tell me, ‘You stand for everyone, who stands for you?’ Honestly, this industry can never be united,” he said.
Moreover, he mentioned to the outlet that directors like Shoojit Sircar and Dibakar Banerjee, who work beyond Mumbai, proved that true artists are not restricted by location or fear.
Additionally, he also addressed the growing use of AI in filmmaking, criticizing the recently released AI-driven project Chiranjeevi Hanuman The Eternal.
“Representing artists and then using AI? That’s unethical for me,” he said, calling some supporters of such projects “spineless and cowardly.”
Although he admitted that as the days are passing AI is becoming unavoidable in all professions including filmmaking, but still he addressed that technology can never take the place of human creativity.
Notably, the upcoming gangster drama, starring Aaishvary Thackeray in a dual role along with Vedika Pinto, Monika Panwar, Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub, and Kumud Mishra, focuses on themes of family, love, and crime.
The movie is scheduled to release on September 19.
