Tamil actor-comedian Robo Shankar passes away at 46 in Chennai
Popular Tamil comedian Robo Shankar Known for his comic timing and roles in films like Viswasam and Maari
Robo Shankar, a comedian and actor, died in Chennai on Thursday.
According to several news sources, he was forty six years old.
The lead, who was well-known for his impressive performances in TV shows and films, reportedly fainted early this week, giving him a health scare. A private hospital on OMR later admitted him.
The CEO of GEM Hospital, Dr. S. Asokan, reportedly stated, “He was admitted in a critical condition with a massive gastrointestinal bleed and multiorgan dysfunction secondary to a complex abdominal condition. He was managed in the critical care unit with intensive medical management. Despite the best efforts of our multidisciplinary team, his condition deteriorated rapidly.”
His condition quickly got worse despite intensive care, and he passed away on September 18, 2025, at approximately 8:30 p.m.
A few years prior, he had received treatment for jaundice, which had a major negative impact on his health and caused him to lose weight.
His daughter Indraja and wife Priyanka survives him.
Numerous people in the film industry have sent their condolences, and his final ceremonies and funeral will take place at his home in Chennai.
