Akshay Kumar raises alarm over AI misuse
Akshay Kumar denounces AI deepfake showing him as Maharishi Valmiki
As artificial intelligence continues to advance, the difference between real and generated images and videos is fading, and at times, the human eye fails to recognise whether the image is real or created by AI.
This AI-generated deepfake content is affecting not only ordinary people but also a large number of celebrities, whose faces have been used to create fake photos and video clips.
In the past, many actors have issued warnings regarding their fake images and videos, and now Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar has also joined them, as he has raised caution on this matter.
The 58-year-old actor, while posting on his social media accounts, wrote, "I have recently come across some AI-generated videos of a film trailer showing me in the role of Maharishi Valmiki.
I want to clarify that all such videos are fake and created using AI. What’s worse, some news channels decide to pick these up as ‘news’ without even verifying if these are real or morphed."
The Khiladi 786 lead also cautioned his supporters against making or sharing AI-manipulated videos.
He stressed the rapid spread of such misleading content and addressed the media in particular, urging them to act with greater vigilance.
" In today’s time, when misleading content is being produced at great speed through manipulative AI, I sincerely request media houses to verify and report only after authenticating the information, he added."
On the work front, Akshay was last seen in Jolly LLB3, which is currently running in theatres.
Released on September 19, the film is performing well at the box office and has managed to earn around 60 crores in four days.
