Bollywood actress Rani Mukerji, who recently received National Award for her film Mrs. Chatterjee vs Norway, sets the record straight about the rumours of her directorial debut.

During conversation, the 47-year-old star revealed that she has no immediate plans to direct and calls herself a “student of cinema,” focusing on acting for the time being, but says, “never say never.”

In an interview with ANI, the actress said, “I will always be a student of cinema. Every film, every director, every person I meet teaches me something new.”

Moreover, she  noted that watching people closely helps her bring characters alive, saying, “Sometimes I spot someone’s walk, speech, or small gesture and think, ‘I can use this in my role.’ That’s what I love in acting.” 

On the topic of directing in the future, she remained open and realistic, as she remarked, “There will be a time for everything… never say never. Right now, it’s not on the cards. I am very happy being an actor.”

Notably, she will next appear in the third installment of Mardaani, which is directed by Abhiraj Minawala, alongside Janki Bodiwala, Aeklavya Tomer and Murali Mali.
