Renowned Indian Zubeen Garg tragically passed away while swimming in Singapore last month. Earlier reports suggested he died while scuba diving, but authorities have clarified that he was swimming at the time of the incident.

The Singapore Police Force (SPF) has sent a copy of the autopsy report to the High Commission of India. The autopsy report verified drowning as the reason for death. Any foul play has been ruled out by the SPF, which implies no suspicion of murder or criminal violence behind his death.

According to reports, Garg, 52, was with more than a dozen people on a yacht on September 19 when the incident occurred. He was rescued unconscious and brought to Singapore General Hospital, where he was declared dead on the same day.

Meanwhile, the Assam Police have arrested Garg’s director Siddhartha Sharma and festival chief organiser Shyamkanu Mahanta from Delhi. Both have been charged under sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for culpable homicide not amounting to murder, criminal conspiracy, and causing death by negligence. The investigation is ongoing to understand the full circumstances of the untimely early death.

Earlier, his wife Garima Saikia, spoke intimately for the first time, expressing the deep loss his death has left before.

In a statement, Garim shared details about Zubeen’s last project, Roi Roi Binale, which is scheduled to release on October 31, 2025. 

The film is a musical love story, also features the late singer in a unique role as a blind artist.

“I regret that his voice dubbing did not happen because he had also acted in this film and in a very different role. He was very excited about it. So, it’s a purely musical love story.I think people would love it too. But we couldn’t dub Zubeen voice. So that will be a void in the film. But other music and everything was done,” Garima said.
