Mariah Carey has revealed that Michael Jackson’s estate is preventing her from releasing an unreleased collaboration with the late King of Pop.

The 56-year-old singer opened up about the track during an appearance on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen on Wednesday, where she discussed her past work with two of music’s biggest icons. 

According to Daily Mail, Carey explained that while her recording with Prince was never completed, her song with Jackson was finished but has been withheld from release.

“There’s an issue with his estate because they’re doing something really huge for him [in the future], and this [song] we didn’t know would kind of usurp that situation,” Carey said. 

The singer admitted she was disappointed that the track could not be included on her 16th studio album, Here For It All, which was released on September 26. 

She said, “I’m so upset it’s not coming out on this album. It should be on there. Every time I would play it for somebody, they would [say], ‘Wow.’”

Carey added that she still hopes the song will be released one day, describing it as a project she “loves.” 

Alongside talk of her music, she also addressed her long-standing viral remark about Jennifer Lopez, repeating her now-famous line, “I don’t know her,” when asked again about their rumored feud.
