Aishwarya Rai, Abhishek Bachchan drag Google and YouTube to court
Aishwarya Rai, Abhishek Bachchan take strong legal action against AI misuse
Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan have moved the Delhi High Court against Google and YouTube, filing a lawsuit worth Rs. 4 crore.
The star couple claims their images and videos are being misused through deepfakes and AI-generated content on the platforms.
According to Reuters, the couple raised concerns about YouTube’s policies, which allow such content to circulate and even get used for training AI models.
In their filing, they argued that once such manipulated videos go public, they not only damage reputation but also get multiplied when used in AI training.
The lawsuit highlights ‘egregious’ and ‘sexually explicit’ AI content, pointing out a YouTube channel called AI Bollywood Ishq. The channel reportedly has more than 259 deepfake videos with millions of views.
Among them is a video showing the Devdas actress with Salman Khan in a pool, while another clip shows the Guru actor either kissing an actress or reacting angrily in AI-altered scenes.
Last month, the Delhi High Court directed Google’s lawyer to file a written response before the next hearing, scheduled for January 15. The case is now under review.
Meanwhile, Abhishek and Aishwarya’s personal life has also been in the spotlight with ongoing divorce rumours.
But their recent public appearances together have pushed back such claims, showing that the two are still standing united.
On the work front, Aishwarya has not announced any new projects yet. Abhishek, however, will next appear in King and in Raja Shivaji, a historical drama starring Riteish Deshmukh as Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.
