Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban’s separation has stunned fans after nearly two decades of marriage. 

The 58-year-old Oscar-winning actress filed for divorce this week, citing irreconcilable differences, just one day after the Daily Mail confirmed the couple’s split.

According to People, Kidman had been bracing for the news to become public for months. 

“She’s been stressed because she knew the separation would eventually become public and she was dreading it,” a source told the outlet. “But she’s surprisingly level-headed and calm. Now that it’s out, she’s just focused on what’s ahead and her girls.” 

The couple share two daughters, Sunday and Faith.

Moreover, the breakup reportedly began in the summer of 2025 after months of quiet separation and diverging schedules due to their demanding careers. 

Additionally, Kidman is seeking to be the primary residential parent of their children.

Kidman and Urban first met in 2005 at the G’Day LA gala and married the following year in a traditional Catholic ceremony in Sydney. 

Over the years, they became one of Hollywood’s most enduring couples, frequently appearing side by side at red carpet events.

This marks Kidman’s second high-profile divorce, as per the outlet.

She was previously married to Tom Cruise from 1990 to 2001, with whom she shares two adopted children, Bella and Connor.

Despite the heartbreak, insiders say Kidman remains focused on family and the future.

 “She didn’t want this, but she’s moving forward,” a source added.
