Rajat Bedi reveals dark days before Bollywood comeback
Rajat admits that the first phase of his career in the 2000s was far from easy
Bollywood actor Rajat Bedi has recently opened up about the difficulties in his life that tested him both mentally and financially. Rajat admits that the first phase of his career in the 2000s was far from easy.
In a conversation Mid-Day, the Koi Mil Gaya actor revealed that several producers often asked him to forget his payment when their films underperformed at the box office.
Rajat said, "I was part of many successful films, but I infrequently got my due. Others celebrated success while I quietly moved on to the next project. Financially, I was going nowhere.”
The 50-year-old actor recounted struggling with a nervous breakdown and relying on medication to sleep, saying, “ At one point, I was completely done. I couldn't see the future and was constantly upset about how to manage daily life. Even my wife suggested we leave and start fresh.”
Frustrated with the lack of stability in Bollywood, Rajat moved to Canada in 2007-08, trying a new career in real estate. However, he faced several financial setbacks, including a partnership dispute that resulted in heavy losses.
"In 2012, after building a company with around 200 million Canadian dollars, partnership issues brought everything crashing down overnight, ” the Dhamkee actor revealed.
Despite these challenges, Rajat didn't give up. He rebuilt his business with new partners but faced another betrayal in 2018 that led to legal battles. "The trauma between 2018 and 2021 was overwhelming, but I persevered,” he added.
