Bobby Deol gets candid about early struggles with alcoholism
Bobby Deol is getting candid about his early struggles with alcoholism, crediting his wife Tanya for standing by him through it all.
The Soldier star, who recently garnered praise for his phenomenal performance in Aryan Khan’s The Ba**ds of Bollywood, opened up to Shubhankar Mishra about how addiction took a toll on his personal relationships and career early on.
Speaking highly of his wife, Bobby shared that without her support, he might not have made it through that dark phase of his life.
He revealed, “I told her that if there was any other woman in my wife’s place, she would have left me. Because alcohol takes you away, makes your senses go wrong. You talk nonsense, you don’t even know what you’re saying.”
In addition, Bobby explained why he eventually gave up alcohol altogether, citing how it negatively influenced his behaviour.
“When you’re sober, you don’t even remember what you said. No one else could bear it. And that’s why I quit drinking. I don’t drink anymore. It’s been over a year. I swear, I don’t even feel like it. It’s poison for me,” he added.
For the unversed, Bobby has been married to Tanya since May 30, 1996, and the couple shares two sons.
Bobby made a major career comeback with 2023 film Animal, in which he starred alongside Ranbir Kapoor.
Most recently, he appeared in Aryan Khan’s Netflix series, which premiered on September 18, 2025.
