‘Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat’ gets lukewarm response on opening day
Sonam Bajwa and Harshvardhan Rane’s ‘Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat’ opens to mixed reviews
Sonam Bajwa and Harshvardhan Rane’s much-anticipated film Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat has hit the big screens today (October 21, 2025), and viewers have started sharing reviews on social media.
Directed by Milap Zaveri, this love story received a lukewarm response from film buffs.
But before forming any final opinion about the film, it is important to keep in mind that Harshvardhan made his Hindi cinema debut with Sanam Teri Kasam, and his first film was declared a flop.
However, the interesting thing is that after almost 9 years, the film was re-released in February 2025 and received a tremendous response from viewers, which turned it from a flop film into a hit.
Under the hashtag #EkDeewaneKiDeewaniyat, many people shared their experiences after watching the movie.
Film critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh gave it three and a half stars, calling it ‘engaging’.
Describing his experience in details, he said, “The dramatic portions are well-penned and executed, particularly the interval block, which comes as a shocker.”
He also pointed out some shortcomings, saying, “The story takes time to take off – the first 20 minutes feel stagnant... Post-interval, a few sequences appear stretched...
The female lead's attitude also feels a bit unreasonable after a point. Also, there's an excess of dialogue-baazi in several sequences, which wasn't needed.”
A review reads, "The fame #HarshvardhanRane earned from Sanam Teri Kasam completely fades away with EDKD. Simply a terrible movie. The story feels forced, the performances lack conviction, and the direction does nothing to hold your attention."
Another X user posted, “#Ekdeewanekideewaniyat This is a good movie, I have seen it, it is a great movie, you must go and watch it. Both the songs and the story of this film are good."
A film buff reviewed film as, "#EkDeewaneKiDeewaniyat is a poetic yet painful portrayal of love, loss & redemption, the kind that melts your heart. #HarshvardhanRane done well and #Sonam bajwa is beautiful & mesmerising #milindzaveri delivers old school romance."
The film has clashed with Rashmika Mandanna and Ayushmann Khurrana’s Thamma, which will also affect its business at the box office.
