Actor Janhvi Kapoor has spoken out about the strange viral rumours that she had a “buffaloplasty,” a made-up cosmetic procedure to enhance her upper lip.

Speaking on the talk show Two Much With Kajol and Twinkle, she denied the claim and urged for “more honest conversations” about beauty treatments.

The 28-year-old said she found a video made by “self-proclaimed doctors” who examined her face and concluded she had done something called buffaloplasty.

The odd term quickly went viral, with many social media users trying to figure out what it meant.

What is Buffaloplasty?

A so-called buffaloplasty, also known as a bullhorn lip lift, is a cosmetic surgery that shortens the space between the nose and upper lip by removing a thin strip of skin.

This gives the lips a slightly fuller look without fillers. Though the term is uncommon, similar procedures have been around for years.

The Param Sundari actress said her main concern was how such claims can influence young people. 

“If a young girl sees a video like this and decides to do something unsafe, that would be the worst thing ever,” she said.

By addressing the rumour head-on, she emphasised the need for honesty and awareness in cosmetic discussions.
