Faiza Saqlain’s attack on Maya Ali hints at rift in friendship
Faiza Saqlain vs Maya Ali: New fashion battle erupts
Famous Pakistani designer Faiza Saqlain has accused actress Maya Ali's clothing brand of copying her designs, which resulted in a reverse backlash from netizens.
Interestingly, in the past, the actress and the designer shared a very friendly relationship, which was often seen through their social media posts.
However, Faiza’s recent allegations seem to indicate differences between the two.
Taking to Instagram, the designer wrote, “Should I be flattered? Inspiring this brand in ALL respects I must say, from dress to model to backdrop.
It’s getting boring now @mayapretofficial, please come up with something of your own. Can’t promise but hopeful that might sell too.”
She also posted some images, comparing her designs with those of Maya's brand.
However, her criticism of the Maya Ali Pret didn’t sit well with the social media users, who rejected her claims in the comment section and even accused Faiza of copying Indian designers.
A user wrote, “Grow up!!! This isn’t a copy at all. I honestly wasn’t expecting this from such a big designer like Faiza. Please touch some grass, where exactly is this look ‘copied’? First of all, these designs are so common now! You can find silk sarees with embroidery work everywhere and big-flare pishwas too. But of course, some people just can’t digest Mayapret’s growth, that’s why they stoop this low!!”
Another commented, “Am I the only one who doesn’t find these two outfits similar?”
A third user expressed similar sentiments, “Highly common cuts and colour palette. I don’t see anything being copied here.”
“@mayapretofficial has better designs and they look totally different. I think Faiza Saqlain is just jealous of Maya getting more fame than her,” a comment read.
Although this started a heated debate on social media, the Mann Mayal star chose not to respond. Instead, she posted a picture of her side pose on Instagram story, with her face hidden, and appreciated a song in it.
