Bollywood actor and singer Diljit Dosanjh has allegedly been threatened by Khalistani extremist Gurpatwant Singh Pannun’s group, Sikhs for Justice.

Based on latest reports, according to the group, the singer disrespected the victims of the 1984 Sikh genocide by bowing to Amitabh Bachchan, whose words “fueled the genocide.”

“This is not ignorance, it is betrayal. The Sikhs who were burned alive, the women raped, the children butchered, their ashes are not yet cold," he continued, as per Times Now.

Moreover, the statement noted, "No Sikh with a conscience can perform or celebrate on November 1, the Day of Remembrance."

During his guest appearance on Kaun Banega Crorepati 17 over the weekend, the songwriter greeted Bachchan by touching his feet as he arrived on set.

Amid the controversy, SFJ has written to Jathedar Akal Takht Sahib, Giani Kuldeep Singh Gargaj, urging him to summon Dosanjh to explain his actions in light of the 2010 takht decree recognising November 1984 as the “Sikh Genocide Month.”

The group also called on “Sikh institutions, artists, and audiences to boycott any event or collaboration with individuals connected to the propaganda or whitewashing” of the riots that followed the assassination of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi.

Despite the uproar, Dosanjh is currently in Australia for his Aura Tour and recently made history by becoming the first Indian artist to completely sell out a stadium show in Sydney, drawing 30,000 fans with ticket prices reaching as high as $800 each.
