King Charles III quietly hosted a private celebration at Windsor Castle this week to mark the 90th birthday of his cousin, Prince Edward, Duke of Kent.

The low-key gathering, held on October 29, brought together several senior members of the royal family for an intimate evening of reflection and celebration.

According to the official Court Circular, guests included Queen Camilla, Princess Anne and Sir Timothy Laurence, the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester, as well as the Duke of Kent’s siblings, Prince Michael of Kent and Princess Alexandra.

As per the Express UK's claims, the event was described as a “private dinner” and was not publicized in advance, highlighting King Charles’s preference for understated royal occasions.

The Duke of Kent, who turned 90 earlier this month, is one of the longest-serving members of the royal family and a trusted supporter of both the late Queen Elizabeth II and King Charles.

Moreover, the celebration was reportedly delayed out of respect for the recent passing of his wife, Katharine, Duchess of Kent, whose funeral took place in September.

Notably absent from the gathering were the Prince and Princess of Wales, who are believed to have been on a family half-term holiday with their children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis, as per the outlet.

Sources close to the palace described the evening as “warm and personal,” reflecting the King’s commitment to maintaining family ties and honoring the royal family’s elder generation away from public scrutiny.
