Fans disappointed as Alia Bhatt’s action thriller ‘Alpha’ postponed to April 2026
A recent development related to Alia Bhatt and Sharvari’s much-anticipated film Alpha has left fans disappointed, as they were eagerly waiting for this first women-led spy thriller.
Yash Raj Films has announced that its upcoming action drama will now release on April 17, 2026, instead of the earlier planned date in December 2025.
The production house attributed the delay to the additional time required to complete the visual effects in line with the studio’s quality standards.
Alpha brings together Alia Bhatt and Sharvari in lead roles, with Anil Kapoor and Bobby Deol also playing key parts.
The story features an intense showdown, with Alia and Sharvari facing off against Bobby Deol. The film is part of YRF’s growing Spy Universe, which already includes hits like Pathaan and Tiger 3.
A YRF spokesperson explained that “Alpha team wants to put out the best film for audiences to enjoy. It is a fair move by YRF. This was brewing as the VFX team was under a lot of pressure with regard to timelines which was seeming unrealistic.
So, the push of release date is due to this only and not because of the current cluttered release window from Avatar to the end of January 2026. There is work pending and that’s why Alpha is releasing in April and not February.”
Directed by Shiv Rawail, Alpha marks the Highway star’s first collaboration with YRF and her debut in the Spy Universe.
The film is being called India’s first large-scale, female-led action movie, promising a fresh and powerful avatar for its leading ladies.
